History

On September 26, 1996, after having held several preparatory sessions, a group of businessmen decided to establish the Honduran Association of Cargo Agencies (AHAC) under the leadership of Lic. Roberto Reyes Silva. Made up of 15 cargo agencies from San Pedro Sula and Tegucigalpa, it was created with the objective of regulating the exercise of the profession of cargo agent in Honduras, proposing and coordinating the most appropriate measures for the defense and protection of the rights and interests of its members both in Honduras and abroad, collaborate with the authorities among others.

Being granted Legal Status by the Government of Honduras through resolution 286-98 on December 14, 1998 and establishing the City of San Pedro Sula as domicile. On October 21, 2004, the amendment of the Association’s statutes was approved and, in turn, the amendment to the name of the Association, which will be called the Honduran Association of International Freight and Logistics Agencies (AHACI).

Currently, the Association has 37 active members, and is a founding member of the Central American Federation of Freight and Logistics Agencies (FEDECARGA), an active member of the Federation of Professional Associations of Latin American Freight Forwarders (ALACAT), of the International Federation of Freight Associations. Freight forwarders (FIATA), the Chamber of Commerce and Industries of Cortés (CCIC) and the Honduran Council of Private Companies (COHEP).

Mission

The Honduran Association of International Freight and Logistics Agencies (AHACI) is an entity with its own legal personality, non-profit and without political or religious purposes, aimed at promoting the spirit of union and solidarity among logistics operators and promoting the development and competitiveness of logistics activity in Honduras, providing knowledge and good operating practices through advice, liaison, dialogue, dissemination of standards, organization of conventions, seminars, forums and workshops, aimed at improving the technical and professional level of human talent that is performs in the sector to fully satisfy the needs of its customers. Thus generating value to its associates and the country and promoting its integration with national and international organizations representing and defending the interests of the Sector.

Visión

To be in 2025 the association of the logistics union recognized for its leadership and vanguardism that best represents the logistics activity in Honduras, being able to provide data and information of the sector, recognized as the main manager of logistics development and growth and as a representative entity; generating actions and the necessary strategic alliances that allow us to fulfill each of the specific objectives defined in the statutes, always aiming for the benefit of our associates.

Our Objectives

  1. Grouping the actors that are dedicated to providing all or part of the services related to the handling of cargo, goods or merchandise of third parties in export or import;
  2. Create conditions for the granite union, technification, professionalization and protection of its members;
  3. Defend the principles of free enterprise and competition, to contribute with it to the development of trade in Honduras;
  4. Promote, recognize and obtain the fair, dignified and punctual remuneration of its members through commissions or discounts derived from air, maritime, land transport and other service companies;
  5. Study and propose solutions to the various problems that affect the members of the AHACI in the face of the legal, regulatory, tax and state intervention regime in relation to the regulation of the professional activities of the union;
  6. Affiliate or associate with national or international entities in order to promote a business exchange for the benefit of their partners.
  7. Organize or carry out marketing studies, courses, seminars, congresses or meetings of a local, national or international nature in order to stimulate the exchange of technical experiences and knowledge related to the different activities of the union;
  8. To promote and stimulate good relations between the federation and other representative unions of industry and national and international commerce;
  9. Manage before any government institution involved in national and / or foreign trade, the approval of standards that tend to improve and facilitate procedures and propose solutions to the various problems that affect the members; and
  10. Actively participate in the formulation of the country’s international trade policy.
  11. Ensure fair and timely payment that air, sea and land transport companies must make to their members for the services they provide to importers and exporters, whether they are national or foreign natural or legal persons;
  12. Perform any other function that is proper to its purpose and that contributes to the achievement of its purposes.
